In the latest issue of CINEP’s “100 días” magazine, Louise Winstanley, ABColombia Programme and Advocacy Manager, analyses Petro’s government efforts in ending the Investor-State Dispute Settlement mechanism, ISDS.

Drawing on specific cases, the article examines how these treaties have affected Colombia’s regulatory sovereignty and evaluates the main changes that Gustavo Petro’s administration promoted to strengthen the state’s regulatory capacity and rebalance the relationship between the protection of foreign investment and the public interest. 

She also outlines what remains to be done to protect Colombia’s ability to regulate in the public interest, tackle climate change and safeguard its natural resources.
