Chair of Board of Non-Executive Directors

The Chair of the Board of Non-Executive Directors of ABColombia oversees the functioning of the highly successful advocacy group of five leading British and Irish development agencies working on Colombia (Christian Aid, CAFOD, SCIAF, Oxfam and Trócaire). The candidate should bring experience of good governance of Civil Society Organisations. 

We are looking for someone with:

  • expertise in managing small organisations and experience and understanding of working in
    networks and committees.
  • institutional management and staff management experience, plus knowledge of institutional
    governance and development requirements, including budgeting and financial management
    systems and reporting systems.
  • excellent leadership skills together with good inter-personal skills.
  • a commitment to the respect of human rights and the right to development.

You will be joining at an exciting time as we seek to achieve lasting impacts that will advance sustainable peace in Colombia. This is a voluntary role requiring attendance at three to four board meetings per year, time to scrutinise papers, and occasional strategy planning meetings.

Board meetings are held at the ABColombia Office in Waterloo. Board members would need to be able to attend these meetings in person on four occasions in the year. Therfore, candidates should be U.K. based, preferably in London.

Human Resources Lead

ABColombia is also looking for a non-executive board member who can take the lead on human resources.

The human resources lead should have:

  • knowledge of managing the human resources of small organisations and experience and understanding of working in networks and committees.
  • a background in human resources management, and experience in administering personnel activities such as recruitment, benefits, payroll, insurances, policies, and procedures, and related HR work;  along with a willingness to be available to staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis.
  • good independent judgment together with the ability to work as a member of a team
  • a commitment to the respect of human rights and the right to development,

An interest in Colombia/Latin America is advantageous.

This voluntary role requires attendance at three to four board meetings per year, time to scrutinise papers, and occasional strategy planning meetings.
